Cool Car Pickup

The details

How it works

It's a school run, just a much better one. Here's exactly what happens.

Morning run

Pick-up from home, drop-off at school

around 8:00 – 9:00am

Afternoon run

Pick-up from school, drop-off at home

around 2:30 – 3:30pm

On the day

  1. 1We turn up at your place a little early, so there's time for photos in the driveway before anyone has to be anywhere.
  2. 2The kid gets in and their song is already playing. There is usually a lot of noise about this part.
  3. 3We drive to school the scenic way — nobody has ever asked to go the direct route.
  4. 4Drop-off at the gate, in front of everybody. This is the bit they'll talk about all term.

Questions people ask

Who actually drives?

The owner does. These are his cars and nobody else drives them. A parent or guardian is welcome to follow along or ride to the school and back where the car has room.

How many kids can go?

One. These are low, loud two-seaters and the birthday kid gets the seat. If you've got siblings who'll be heartbroken, book a second run on another day.

Can they pick the music?

Absolutely, and they should. Tell us their favourite song or band when you book and it'll be cued up and ready before they even climb in. Loud is fine. Loud is encouraged.

What if it rains?

We'll call you. Some of these cars really don't love the wet, so if the weather turns we'll move your booking to another day at no cost.

How far ahead do I need to book?

At least 2 days, so there's time to get the car out, cleaned and fuelled. We take bookings for the current month and the one after, and the calendar won't offer you anything outside that.

Can we do a weekend?

No — it's a school run, so it's Monday to Friday only. The calendar doesn't show weekends at all.

Why did the car I wanted go grey?

There's one driver and he can only be in one car at a time, so each morning and each afternoon goes to a single booking across the whole fleet. Once a slot is taken it's taken for every car — but the same day's other half is usually still free, and so is the next day.

Does the school need to know?

Worth a heads-up, yes — especially for an afternoon pick-up, so they know who's collecting. Most schools think it's great.

How do I pay?

Directly with the owner, on the day or beforehand — no card details go through this website. You'll get the price confirmed in your booking email.
